Brewing & Coffee Care

You don't need a chemistry degree to make good coffee at home.

How should I store my coffee?

Keep it somewhere cool, dry, dark, and airtight.

Your kitchen counter or cabinet is usually great. The top of the refrigerator in direct afternoon sunlight? Less great.

For most people, we don't recommend storing everyday coffee in the refrigerator. Moisture, odors, and temperature changes can all work against you.

Should I buy whole bean or ground coffee?

If you have a grinder at home, whole bean will generally give you the freshest cup because coffee begins losing aroma more quickly once it's ground.

But freshly ground coffee isn't particularly useful if you don't own a grinder. We're happy to grind your beans for however you make coffee at home.

How much coffee should I use?

A good starting point is roughly 1 gram of coffee for every 16 grams of water.

But, and this is important, it's a starting point.

If your coffee tastes weak, try a little more coffee. Too strong? Try a little less. Your favorite cup doesn't have to match somebody else's spreadsheet.

What's the best way to brew Dynamo coffee?

The method you'll actually use.

Pour-over, French press, AeroPress, drip machine, espresso… different methods highlight different things about a coffee, and we're happy to recommend a starting point for whatever you're brewing.
